Schlapp has kept her focus throughout, by working closely with White House policy and political teams, as well as legislative affairs team and shops. Her focus so far has been on issues like the safety of schools, opioids, infrastructure, and trade. She doesn't interact with reporters often in her current position. In March, she was the subject of a sudden surge in interest when it was known that her name would be a candidate for replace Hope Hicks as director of communication. She's faced with numerous challenges, for instance as being the President's communications director, and is his communications director. Schlapp is able to remain in the right frame of mind and stay on top of her game and work in conjunction with White House teams in political matters, legislative affairs and policy as well the wider communications team. Her focus to date has been on topics such as safety in schools as well as the opioid epidemic trade, infrastructure and other related topics. In her role, Schlapp is not in contact with many reporters. The month of March was when she received some interest after her name was suggested as a potential candidate in the race to replace Hope Hicks in the role of communications director. Schlapp stated that after that the Washington Examiner ran a story with negative remarks about Sayegh she had a discussion with him.
